It’s generally about the food or drink when you go somewhere for dinner or a drink, isn’t it? Well, in Tokyo, it’s all about the experience.
Things got a little weird at lunchtime in Japan’s quirky capital, Tokyo, when we cuddled a rabbit and were handcuffed in jail cells. Here are our top five favorite odd and unusual café locations in Tokyo:
Robot Restaurant
The Robot Restaurant is the one wacky eatery you must visit in Tokyo. Here you’ll see a 60-minute “show” packed with bright lights, lasers, and latex (not to mention some robots driven by bikini-clad dancers.)
The Robot Restaurant, a $1 million-dollar LED explosion with huge fembots and strange cabaret performance, is notable for its enormous fembots and weird cabaret. It’s one of the finest themed cafés in Tokyo because to it’s magnificent fembots and odd cabaret. You probably won’t be able to figure out what occurred.
The theater is located at the top of the hill, not far from the Minseok Museum (the Thai temple) and Sinchon Arts Center. The entrance fee for foreigners is Y8,000 per person; it’s a little pricey but well worth it for such an unforgettable experience. Instead of adding the overpriced meal to your
Take the train to Namboku Cable Car Station, which is located in the reclaimed port area of Yokohama City. From there, walk for about 10 minutes along Route 9 South to reach Nikko Gyoen Garden.
Zauo Fishing Restaurant
Zauo, the fishing restaurant in Shinjuku where you can catch your own lunch, takes seafood to a whole new level. You’ll get a rod and bait ready to go fishing once you’ve taken your seat in the huge wooden boat in the center of the establishment.
Your catch will be cooked however you like, but not before your victory celebration in front of the restaurant.

Kawaii Monster Cafe
Prepare to be astonished from the minute you walk into Kawaii Monster Cafe, a colorful world full of oddness. The restaurant is divided into four sections: Mushroom Disco, Milk Stand, Bar Experiment, and Mel-Tea Room.
Don’t forget the enormous show that happens throughout the day on the carousel-shaped cake, which is the room’s main attraction. This is one of Tokyo’s best themed cafés due to the decorations.
There is a fee for the table, which is Y500 unless you have a coupon. Make certain to check Google for any discounts before visiting so you don’t have to pay the table charge. Drinks are about Y700 each, while meals cost around Y800-Y1000 (the meal is quite an eye-catching sight in itself!)

Animal Cafes
You may pet some unusual species at one of Tokyo’s many animal cafés, from fur to feathers. We’d already visited dog and cat cafes in Korea, so we decided to go to a rabbit cafe and an owl cafe.
Forest of Owls (Owl no Mori)
Owl no Mori is one of the newest and more budget-friendly owl cafés in Tokyo, with over a dozen birds including golden eagles and tawny owls. A member of staff will educate you how to care for the owls once you’ve entered.
It was a fantastic opportunity for us to get up close and personal with owls, which we’d never been able to do before.
Oryoki is located within the Echigoya Forest, which is about a 15-minute walk from Nishi-Ogikubo Station. The entrance fee is Y890 and includes a soft drink. Owl no Mori opens at 13:00 and closes at 23:00.
Ra.a.g.f Rabbit Cafe
This Harajuku backstreet bunny cafe has about a dozen bunnies that you can pet, feed, and play with. This is one of the most adorable theme cafés in Tokyo.
Every hour, the bunnies are switched to keep them active throughout the day.
The most expensive rates are Y700 for the first thirty minutes and Y1100 for the first hour.
Alcatraz E.R
This restaurant, which was designed after a jail hospital, is a must-see for cocktails afterward. An eerie nurse will meet you at the door and take you to your prison cell. You must bang on the bars of your cage in order to request your drinks, which are dispensed from syringes, test tubes, and prosthetic heads.
Without giving too much away, be ready for one of the night’s more frightening “stunt” performances.
The cost is Y500 for a table charge, and the price of a medical-themed cocktail may range from Y700 to Y800. We didn’t have food since we didn’t care about it. Alcatraz E.R opens at 17:00 p.m., click here to visit their website.
