Tokyo’s Asakusa area is known primarily for the fact that the Senso-ji Temple is located here – one of the main attractions of the Japanese capital. Locals flock here to pray in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. This temple is very beautiful.
Its walls are covered with exquisite carvings and other magnificent design elements. Many people try to come to Senso-ji in the late afternoon, when the temple and the surrounding area are flooded with golden sunset light. Be sure to check out the shops located on the outskirts of the temple. It sells Japanese handicrafts and artifacts such as calligraphy.
Asakusa is a quarter in Tokyo, one of the most interesting and lively in the city. The famous Senso-ji Temple is located in this quarter, and the place itself is considered one of the main Japanese attractions, attracting tourists from all over the world.
The Asakusa area is famous for its many temples, each of which hosts an annual Matsuri, a Shinto festival. Asakusa also houses most of the buildings that survived the Second World War. Not far from the district is the Kappabashi shopping street, which sells dishes and kitchen utensils.
The area is the oldest hanamachi in Tokyo, where geisha work. Sayuki, the first non-Asian geisha, once worked here.
Tourists go to Asakusa not only to participate in religious ceremonies, many of them come to shop and ride the rides.
